FIGHT CLUB Book Cover
This is a book cover I created for Chuch Palahniuk’s 1996 novel Fight Club. I was inspired by Swiss Modernist styles, and simple color palettes and imagery. The orange represents the vibrant Tyler Durden, and the orange represents the boring anonymous narrator. Finally, the black graffiti over the title represents the vandalism themes of the book and the first rule of fight club: “Do not talk about Fight Club”.
PROCESS SKETCHES
Sketches for the book cover project included themes of hidden identities wrapped up in the clean lines of a Vignelli-grid style. The sketch on the left was the basis of the final book cover, as the right sketch was a personal favorite of mine, using 1890’s images of bare-knuckle boxing with text boxes hiding the fighter’s identities. However, I went with the more simple and bold approach on the right.
